History of the LEC
The University of La Verne's centralized tutoring program has been in existence since 1989. In addition to tutoring services, the LEC began providing academic advising to First-Year Resource Program students in 1992, and started group tutoring (supplemental instruction) for challenging courses in 1998. The tutoring program was granted Level I certification through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) in 1994, and Level II and III certification in 2001.
