Legal Studies Options

The Legal Studies major at La Verne prepares individuals for careers as paralegals or for positions where organizational and analytical skills as well as knowledge of the law and legal procedures are necessary. Paralegals, or legal assistants, work under the supervision of an attorney or perform work for which an attorney is responsible. This program does not prepare students to practice law.

All paralegal courses are offered under the auspices of the College of Arts and Sciences. Persons interested in paralegal courses, in the Bachelor's degree or in the Certificate in Paralegal Studies may directly contact the Department of Legal Studies or seek an appointment with either a Campus Accelerated Program for Adults (CAPA) counselor (if 25 years or older) or Undergraduate Admissions counselor (for students younger than 25).

Program Options

Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies

Transfer courses are welcome into this program, but majors must take a minimum of 24 semester hours of upper-division LS courses from ULV. Students should complete ENG 110 and six additional semester hours of general education prior to taking LS courses. At least 18 semester hours of general education must meet the Legal Studies Program's approval.
