The Research Process
Wilson Library - University of La Verne

University of La Verne's mission is to have "an approach to education that is lifelong in nature. Therefore, it teaches students how to learn, how to think critically, how to do responsible research, and how to access and integrate information in order to prepare them for career growth and flexibility and continued personal growth."

These are the guiding principles for this online tutorial. The intent is to inform and teach the research process in an academic setting. This process will be applicable to other research needs you will encounter at the university, in your personal life or in your work environment.

Wilson Library has identified eight steps in the research process.

You can follow the path we have designed or choose the step most appropriate for your current research need. Each step concludes with a simple quiz to reinforce the ideas presented.

We hope you enjoy learning the research process.
