• Join a library
• Allow your child to choose a magazine to subscribe to
• Respond to what you're reading (if it's a funny story, laugh!)
• If you read a story aloud to your child, find a story that will interest both you and your child
• Humorous stories are popular read aloud books, especially if you change your voice for different characters
• Encourage your child to predict the ending of a story, or what may happen next
• Read the same book as your child and discuss the story
