Recognizing community needs and the limitations of a small campus, the nearterm objectives of the Facilities Master Plan provides for the upgrading of existing facilities to allow ULV to compete for students. Like the City of La Verne, the University anticipates the changes that will be inevitable with the establishment of a Gold Line station in the City of La Verne and related business development. The Campus Master Plan has provided for the "banking" of space that would eventually provide for growth in capacity once the City and the University have addressed parking, zoning and circulation issues that limit current capacity.
The establishment of a parking structure, either in connection with mass transit development or on current University grounds, will allow proposed near-term parking areas (like the lot replacing Stu-Han and the 2nd Street lot) to be developed as academic facilities to accomodate increased student, faculty, and staff growth. The extent, focus, and exact timing of these will evolve as we move forward.
