BG BrothersBulgarian Guitar Trio October 8, 2004 Founders Auditorium BG Brothers is a guitar trio, members of which are the brothers-Nikola Chekardzhikov-25 Vasil Chekardzhikov-24, Petar Chekardzhikov-24.They got involved in music at the early age of 6, playing the accordion for three years. That was the time, when the boys and their sister Petya, first tried playing together. At the age of 9 they started learning the secrets of the guitar. A year later the young musicians formed a guitar quartet which few years later became internationally known as "Four Of A Kind" The three boys have graduated the high school of arts "Dobri Hristov" in Varna - Bulgaria in the guitar class of professor Luben Haralambiev. Currently they are pursuing their master degrees in guitar performance under the guidance of Prof. David Grimes in California State University Fullerton. The trio has taken part in a large number of master classes with internationally recognized guitar professors such as Ana Maria Rosado, (USA), Joaquin Clerch, (Cuba), Eric Franseri, (France), Aldo Lagruta, (Venezuela), David Grimes, (USA)/, Georgi Vasilev, (Bulgaria), Costas Cotsiolis, (Greece), and many others. As members of the guitar quartet "Four Of A Kind" and under the international management of "Master Productions"- Belgium, they have recorded their first CD in 1995. They have built a highly successful career with two tours throughout Europe / Belgium, Netherlands, France, Switzerland /, with over 150 concerts in some of the finest concert halls Palace of Fine Arts - Brussels, Grand Casino - Blankenberge, National Palace of Culture - Sofia, etc. / and over 400 concerts in their home country Bulgaria. Four Of A Kind has had numerous radio and TV appearances and recordings in Bulgaria and Belgium. Nikola, Vasil and Petar established the BG Brothers guitar trio in 2001. In May 2001 they released their CD "A Touch with the Guitar World". The trio performed on the "Sunset Concert Cruises" in Door County for three following seasons, 2001-2003.The art of playing has been heard in many concerts for different Concert Series, Guitar Societies, Clubs and organization throughout the states of Wisconsin, Indiana, Colorado, Texas and California. In March 2004 the trio won the I st Prize in the College and University division at the Third Annual Guitar Ensemble Festival and Competition in Brownsville, Texas. Their repertoire includes pieces of a great variety of styles and genres, including Classical Music, Light Jazz, Bossa Nova, Spanish, Bulgarian, Pop, etc.
