Melissa LandisAdjunct Music Faculty Voice Melissa Landis, soprano, was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas where she studied piano and voice at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. Ms. Landis earned her Bachelor of Science in Voice Performance from Southern Nazarene University (Bethany, Oklahoma) where she was the recipient of the Robert Hale Scholarship. Awarded the Inez Silberg Scholarship, she received her Master of Music in Opera Performance from Oklahoma City University. While in Oklahoma, she interned with Tulsa Opera under the artistic direction of Nicholas Muni. Ms. Landis continued her education at the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, where she received the head teaching assistantship as doctoral candidate in voice performance and studied with soprano, Elizabeth Hynes. Since moving to Southern California, Ms. Landis has continued to enjoy an active role as concert artist and recitalist as well as teaching applied voice. Her concert works include Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Faure's Requiem, Vaughan Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem, Poulenc's Gloria, Bach's Wachet auf, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Her opera roles include Marianne from Tartuffe, Fiordiligi from Cosi fan tutte, Contessa from Le Nozze di Figaro and Marguerite from Faust. She has taught at USC, and is currently a member of the applied voice faculties of the University of La Verne and Mount San Antonio College where she teaches individual voice, voice class and Collegiate Chorale
