Tips From the Upper Classmen
- Contact your roommate before move in day if possible to decide who is going to bring the refrigerator, TV, phone, etc. This way you won't have two of everything sitting around which clears up a lot of space in your room.
- Maintain and open mind - Everyone is learning to adjust to living with a complete stranger. Life is much easier when all roommates maintain an open mind.
- Be flexible and respectful - Everyone must be willing to give and take a little in a roommate relationship.
- Communication, communication, communication
- Yes, it does rain even in Southern California.
- Become involved on campus. It's a great way to meet people and it's a good way to find out what is going on around campus.
- Ask lots of questions. The people at ULV are really friendly and helpful and can usually assist you if you ask.
- Remember to take your studies seriously. It's easy to get distracted in a new environment, plus you are not in class nearly as much as in high school so there is a lot more "free time." Remember that if you don't maintain your grades you won't be able to participate in many of the opportunities on campus, you may loose scholarships; you may even be kicked out of school.
- Enjoy your time at ULV. College is a time to explore new opportunities, take advantage of it!
