My professional interests are centered on promoting a greater understanding of the ecological contexts in which humans develop. To those ends, I teach courses in which I challenge students to critically analyze the role of contextual, cultural, social, and political factors in the lives of people, particularly those from disenfranchised or marginalized groups. Further, in my classes I seek to foster dialogue in order to facilitate self-other relational exploration. Similarly, the research projects with which I have been engaged or currently direct are geared toward increasing the presence of scholarship, in psychological and counseling journals, regarding the mental health concerns and developmental pathways of Asian Americans and Latino/a individuals.
