Summer, 2003 - Research Grants Guidelines

 

 

Goals

Encourage full-time faculty to participate in summer research projects, including:

a.) research in his/her specific discipline and/or

b.) research in the scholarship of teaching

 

Grant Awards

Total amount of Summer Research Grants: $20,000

Individual Grants up to $2,000

 

Examples of Acceptable Research Projects or Research Expenses

Research Materials, Student Research Assistants, Relevant Travel, Publication Costs, Computer Software, Course Development, Collaborative Projects

 

Time Line

2003 Grant Application due March 17, 2003

Report due September 2, 2003

 

Procedure

1. Fill out ÒSummer Research Grant ApplicationÓ

2. 2 page Form includes:

    Purpose, Procedures, Product, Contribution to Field, Needed Resources, Peer or

    Department Chair Endorsement

3. Be as specific as possible as you indicate your budget needs.

4. Preference will be given to grants for tangible expenses rather than for payment for Òtime.Ó

5. Indicate whether or not you are asking the University-wide Research Committee for a

    grant relating to the same project.

6. Indicate the contribution to the Òacademic climateÓ of your project.

7. Return completed ÒSummer Research Grant ApplicationÓ to the DeanÕs Office, Hoover 101,

    on or before March 17, 2003.

 

Review Committee

Three Arts and Sciences Faculty Members, (representing Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences), Associate Dean, and Dean of Arts and Sciences. At least one Assistant Professor, one Associate Professor, and one Full Professor.
