Campus Activities Board
Learning Outcome Planning Objectives
A Program of the Office of Student Life
Objective 1: Students will learn, enhance, and put into practice program planning, implementation and evaluation skills.
Rationale:
- The Campus Activities Board (CAB), a program of the Office of Student Life is the primary programming body at the University of La Verne coordinating over 100 diverse programs and events. The purpose of CAB is to plan and execute a host of successful programs reflective of the diverse needs and interests of our students at The University of La Verne. CAB provides students with concrete experiences in planning, marketing and implementing programs.
Measures:
- During the CAB retreat in the fall, students will be given a pre-test rating their program planning skills. The pre-test will consist of three questions; 1) List the components of a successful program. 2) Rate your program planning skills. 3) List the components of a program evaluation. In the late spring, students will be given a post-test comprised of the same three questions to now determine what they have learned over the year and how they improved.
Objective 2: Students will learn how to effectively and creatively market their programs.
Measures:
- A workshop will be conducted by one of the faculty members in the College of Business and Public Management to explain how to market events. A pre-test will be conducted asking the students what they think is the best medium to advertise to the student population; and what information should be included. After the workshop, the students will take the post-test with the same questions to determine what they learned from the workshop.
Objective 3: Students will learn how to effectively and efficiently manage a set program budget.
Rationale:
- The Associated Students of the University of La Verne (ASULV) funds the Campus Activities Board from student fees paid by each undergraduate student enrolled at the University of La Verne. ASULV sets the budget for each committee under Campus Activities Board and each member of CAB is responsible for his or her own budget.
Measures:
- A workshop will be conducted with the students to teach them the basic skills of budget management. At the end of the workshop the students will be given a likert scale survey to determine what they have learned from the workshop. Students will also be evaluated during the spring semester to determine if they are on track with the budget they were given.
