Leo's Den
Learning Outcome Planning Objectives
A Program of the Office of Student Life
Objective 1: Students will be able to participate in out-of-class experiences, which will enhance their overall student satisfaction
Rationale:
- Leo's Den, a program of the Office of Student Life, serves as the primary gathering place on the campus of the University of La Verne by providing a center for social, cultural and educational activities for students. The purpose of Leo's Den is to serve as a temporary student center where students can feel comfortable and can take part in a variety of recreational activities.
Measure:
- At the start of each semester, we will invite students to participate in focus groups that will assess the needs of our students and what their expectations are for Leo's Den.
Objective 2: Students will be able to meet with other students outside of classroom to attend academic, social or recreational events and activities.
Rationale:
- Many of our clubs and organizations as well as our Campus Activities Board, utilize Leo's Den to host a variety of diverse and multicultural events. All events are free and open to all undergraduate students enrolled at the University of La Verne.
Measure:
- During the two weeks prior to midterms, Leo's Den employees will be asked to hand out surveys every hour on the hour asking students if they use Leo's Den to meet with students for study groups, for social interaction or to attend events. Leo's Den staff will also ask commuter students through surveys if they have made new contacts as a result of participating in events in Leo's Den. Also individual program and service offerings in Leo's Den will be assessed. We want to know the service they get the greatest satisfaction using and what services could be added. We will also collect basic demographic information that will include gender, ethnicity, year and their major.
