Services Provided
The Campus Safety department provides a variety of services to the main campus, such as:
- Routine patrol 24/7
- Opening the campus each morning and securing it each night
- Response to emergencies
- Response to reports of crime or criminal behavior
- Security at spectator events and other special events on campus
- Escort service for any student, faculty or staff member who feels uncomfortable moving anywhere on campus any time of the day or night
- Provide Safety Whistles to students, faculty, and staff for personal security
- Parking permit issuance and parking enforcement
- Provide access to buildings and offices and to residence hall rooms in the absence of the Residence Assistant
- Central repository for all found property and reporting of lost property
- Provide educational programs to students, faculty, and staff on security procedures
Campus Safety Officers are non-sworn, civilian employees who only have private person power of arrest. The officers have been trained by, and given the authority by, the La Verne Police Department to issue parking citations for violations of university parking regulations. The Director of Campus Safety has a direct liaison with administrative personnel of the La Verne Police Department and regular meetings are held each month to discuss problems of mutual concern.
