Sociology/Anthropology Senior Thesis

A Senior Project is required of all students who have a major in Anthropology, Criminology, Sociology or Behavioral Sciences. The project provides an opportunity for students to conduct original empirical research under the supervision of a faculty member who is knowledgeable in the student's field of inquiry. Students work in small groups with a professor, designing the proposed research, conducting the research, and analyzing the findings. Findings are presented in the format of a professional conference. Many of the most successful student projects have been presented at subsequent professional meetings, such as the annual meeting of the Pacific Sociological Association. Projects have also been published in professional journals.
