Isela Griffith (pictured to the left above with Stacey Cobalt on the right) returned to Northern California after finishing her Masters in Women's Studies at Sarah Lawrence College in 1998. She has been teaching elementary school in Stockton and writing in her spare time. She has been incorporating theatre skills and approaches into her teaching: During March of 2003 saw her "putting together a piece with our music teacher, that uses music, traditional storytelling, movement, and singing for a presentation on the Miwok and Yokuts Indian tribes. Both of these groups are native to this area. Our fourth grade history section is focused on Native Americans of California, so we are excited to have the chance to integrate theatre so deeply into our social studies curriculum. The use of movement, rhythm, musical instruments, and storytelling is part of 20th century composer, Carl Orff's, method for teaching classroom music. Our kids, all forty of them, are learning more than we could have ever imagined."

She has recently completed a play, titled Left, and is working on a screenplay with the working title, Accidental Death. Regarding the play, which she hopes to produce soon: "It is set in a small town in Germany during WWII, and revolves around three central characters who struggle with resistance, compliance, and ambivalence towards the war."
