Thor Gold (1989) Thor Gold has the distinction of being the only Jewish “Thor” working in Hollywood. He is an award-winning director whose four short films - each in a different genre - have played in many film festivals, including Raindance Film Festival and the Australian International Film Festival. His short films have been made in a variety of formats: digital video, S-16mm, B & W, and 35mm. UCSB uses "Double Trouble" as part of their film-noir class. His latest short "Something True" is currently playing the festival circuit - twenty-one festivals and counting. He has also worked as an assistant editor, two films for Roger Corman; 1st and 2nd AD, including a short executive-produced by Quentin Tarantino; producer, film editor, 2nd unit director and an actor in theatre and film, most recently co-starred in a play with Spider-Man's James Franco. Thor is currently adapting his short thriller "Something True" into a feature screenplay.

Two years after graduating from ULV with a B.A. in Theatre Arts, Thor Gold completed Vancouver Film School. Upon graduation he worked as an apprentice editor on the Sundance supported film Destiny Turns on the Radio. He then worked on two films for Roger Corman as a first assistant editor.

After six years in post-production, Thor made the transition to directing with his first short film, "The Package," shot on 35mm, a romantic comedy about a teenage boy who mails himself in a box to his girlfriend.

His second effort, shot on DV, "The Birthday," is about a nine year old boy’s plea to his mother not to drink on his birthday.

His third short, "Double Trouble," shot on Super-16mm and in black and white, pays homage to Billy Wilder. Thor is currently working on his next short film, "Rules of Engagement." Additionally, he takes acting classes at Playhouse West and is also working on a feature that he would like to direct in 2005.
