Dailey Theatre

In the
Classroom

Course work is focused on four creative processes.
Acting - Design - Directing - Writing.

All students immerse themselves in each of the four processes for at least one semester.

Each student will also develop fluency in at least one area, possibly leading to an emphasis in that area.

Students are encouraged to stretch their range in class, as well as to work within more traditional frames.

The classes are where students develop their own personal artistic process, and the best way to do that is to try everything imaginable.

The classroom is a student's safe zone to attempt the impossible.

Since we are a small theatre program, a high level of community support is necessary. We acknowledge our connection to global community by performing community service -- in fact, that's one of ULV's core values. As part of their general education requirements, all ULV students spend one semester providing community service (CORE 305): volunteer time working at a food bank or homeless shelter, tutoring local grade school or junior high students, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, etc.

The theatre program believes that students who are present and active in their local communities become leaders of those communities. Some even succeed at making great change.

Several classes require students to provide support services for performances.
Students who aren't cast in a show often volunteer for stage management, properties, house management or running crew while they wait to begin rehearsal for their next show.
