Design Emphasis
All students take THAR 233 Introduction to Design in the spring semester of one of their first two years. This course is a highly self-motivated immersion into drawing, painting and model making - all essential skills for the design creative process.

Design students in particular should purchase a MacBook Pro computer. Photo editing, drafting, drawing, and design for stage often utilize the latest computer technology. Computer labs are available on campus, but hours are limited. A personal computer and internet access are two of the most important college essentials.

A design emphasis would take a range of electives from among the following theatre, art & digital design courses:

THAR 333 Design Studio
THAR 232/332 Lighting Design
THAR 234/334 Costume Design
ART 340/343 Life Drawing
ART 360 Watercolor
THAR 220/320 Advanced Stagecraft
THAR 365 Desktop Publishing for Theatre
PHOT 310 Photoshop
Independent Studies
