Students have the option of spending a year abroad at the prestigious GSA Conservatoire in Guildford, England.

Students must audition for GSA and be offered a seat by their selection committe.

Theatre majors audition in their sophomore year in order to spend their junior year abroad. Auditions are held in late March or early April in conjunction with GSA's Los Angeles auditions.

GSA provides a year of conservatory training in acting, musical theatre or stage management & production.

Courses at GSA count mostly as electives for the theatre major. Students intending to study at GSA will need to be aggressive about completing their general education requirements if they plan on graduating in four years.

Students will spend three terms in Guildford, from September through June for Acting & Musical Theatre students, September through July for Production students.

Acting & Musical Theatre students take courses in acting, ballet, dance, voice, singing, character building, dialects & accents, stage combat, and regularly perform in showcases and productions.

Production students take courses in lighting, electricity, stage management, movement for stage managers, stage combat, technical drawing, properties, stagecraft, sound, as well as doing load-ins, runs and strikes every term. Students looking for a technical theatre emphasis at ULV (instead of directing or design) would accomplish it by a year abroad at GSA.
