Producing three to five mainstage productions, as well as many senior theses and class projects, provides the heart of ULV's theatre arts program. Our open audition policy allows new students to work immediately with more experienced majors and welcomes everyone regardless of background or experience. A typical season regularly schedules two dozen or more different productions with over 250 individual roles and design/technical support opportunities.

Student initiated projects are an essential part of the program, giving many the opportunity to present their own work. Performances, poetry readings, live music, staged readings, and themed events around contemporary issues are eagerly encouraged and supported and often involve joint sponsorship with student organizations, such as the Associated Student's Forum, Debate Team, Television and Communications Program, Latino Club, Rainbow Alliance, and the African-American Student Alliance.
