examples on your CDs following the listening guides given in your text. Each
chapter contains several listening examples.

One-Time
Assignments:
- Post a Class Member Introduction on the Discussion
Board. This brief self-introduction will help our class to begin building
an online learning community.
- Midterm Music Making Report. Experience a lesson on
a musical instrument with a private teacher or virtually on the Internet.
Write a report on your experience, including researching your chosen
instrument and writing an annotated bibliography.
- Live Listening/Interview Report. Attend a live musical performances of any kind in your local
area. There is no substitute for hearing live music. So much of the music
we hear every day is recorded, so live listening opportunities are special
occasions. Interview a living, breathing, working musician
(a performer, scholar or composer). It doesn't matter if (s)he is an amateur or a professional. Think of questions
that will encourage the musician to tell you about their experience making
music. The live listening and interview experiences may be related or
separate experiences.
- Post your parting remarks to your classmates in
a Farewell Forum.
- Take a final exam with multiple choice, true/false, and fill in the blank questions.
Multiple attempts will be allowed.
