Description

This course will acquaint students with a broad overview of the various aspects and foundations of public administration.  Additionally, the course will examine broad shifts in American political praxis, spanning the last two centuries.  The course will expose students to the practical applications of public administration, and the theoretic, philosophic, and historic bases that shape how public administration is carried out in contemporary contexts.  As such, the course is intended to provide BPA students with a basic analytic framework for interpreting the other core courses in the major.

 

Course Requirements

The course will include various homework reading assignments and/or quizzes film analyses (two 2 page papers), midterm exam, final exam, and two essay papers (4-6 pages each).  Quizzes will be open booked and include multiple choice and T/F questions based on the readings.  Exams will contain essay questions.
