

The Puritan founders of the colonial colleges helped bring about a transfer of higher learning from the Old World to the New. Their precious veritas--those truths which had been handed down from generation to generation--would continue because they took up the torch of learning and carried it along.
The founders of the University of La Verne shared this belief in the essential continuity of higher learning through the pursuit of truths rooted in Judeo-Christian ethics; they were truly bearers of the torch of learning. Taking its name from this concept, and dedicated to truth, value and service, the Veritas Society was created to honor those who have demonstrated their personal dedication to extend and deepen the University's heritage of commitment and leadership into the future by one or more of the following:
