

Steve Morgan is an effective leader who gathers the best people around him and then lets them do their jobs. He believes passionately in higher education and in the philosophy that at the University of La Verne, "We enable people to pursue their dreams."
Morgan arrived in 1985 and found a campus that needed just about everything -- from landscaping to paint to an infusion of fresh ideas, new academic programs and a serious fundraising campaign. He earned his doctorate (Ed.D.) in Educational Management from the University of Northern Colorado, his Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from the University of Southern California, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of La Verne.
Under Morgan's leadership, during the past 19 years the university has developed into a model institution of higher education. ULV has operated in the black since 1986, the endowment has grown from less than $1 million to $27.8 million and total assets have grown from $27 million to $100 million. New programs implemented include the development of a School of Education, a community literacy program, a Learning Enhancement Center, a Career Development Center, special programs for student leaders, and the Institute for Multicultural Research and Campus Diversity.
During Morgan's presidency, national accreditation has been achieved in the Public Administration, Legal Studies, Athletic Training and Doctor of Psychology programs. He has opened a six-acre state-of-the-art campus in nearby Ontario for the university's College of Law, and also acquired 20 acres of land for the university in the city of La Verne. Additionally, under Morgan's direction, the Campus Center Project (http://www.ulv.edu/ur/campuscenter/) will mark the beginning of enhanced campus master plans for the next 20 years.
Today, as the university's chief executive officer, Morgan is responsible for an annual budget of $100 million, a full-time faculty and staff of 591 and a student body population of 7,646 at the school's eight California campuses.
In addition to the responsibilities of his office, Morgan is an active community member. He serves as director for the LeRoy Haynes Center, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, PFF Bank & Trust, the Independent Colleges of Southern California and the Association of Independent California Colleges & Universities. He is also Board of Directors Chair for the Los Angeles County Fair Association.
